The Purpose

Your sensitivity is a portal to your inner self . One should ask why is it that we naturally carry all negative emotions, experiences  more deeply and for longer periods than positive ones ?  We project all positives outward, in order to share them and to maximise their experience but we project all negatives, inward, in silence and in introspection .
It is by design, we are designed to look inwards , because the real journey is the one that is inwards . The day we start observing and understanding our inner self completely and accept it as it is and start remaining in complete awareness of it , that is the day when all the internal conflicts of ‘what it is’ and ‘what it should be’ end . ‘What it is’, ( it is neither good , nor bad but it is the fact !  The biggest fact of one’s life ) and one should always remain in acknowledgement and awareness of it and move from there .
Discomforts  ,fears , failures or anything  that disconnect us from the outside world albeit momentarily,  ultimately make us start an inward inquiry into our internal self. Everything that exists outside ( jobs , relations , the life   is a mere distraction or a means to ‘experiences’ that enable us to keep making those inward inquiries.
So one may ask what is the meaning of our current reality ? Our current reality is nothing but the chaos that we have created in our current state of existence . To understand this , one has to understand the ‘Non Existent’. Our current reality is as temporary as it will be in the state of our non existence ( death) . All of it can dissolve for us in an instant upon death.
So what is life about ? Life is about aligning all our actions in alignment with our inner self , ending all internal conflicts ,basking in the state of our existence.  Because when we give a chance to our inner self to thrive like this , it leads us to more discoveries in ourselves  and leads us to our higher conscious self.
What is this higher conscious self ? One can view the higher conscious self as an out of body experience. Imagine being in a conversation with someone and recall , when you were part of that conversation but were still able to view and experience it from the lens of a third person simultaneously. The higher conscious self is the observer of your inner self. Not of the one that you project outwards as what you should be ( the one that has went through years of social conditioning ) not that , but of the de - facto self which is untouched and can not be changed , it just exists .  Being in touch with your higher conscious self  is what it means to be in a state of complete awareness of your inner self. Complete awareness and acceptance of your inner self is what peace feels like . Being able to take actions that can maintain that peace is what freedom feels like . And , One should always be free.

On Bahubali 2 - The Conclusion

Congratulations Rajamouli for creating a cinematic experience so grand and full of chivalry . Congratulations on depicting a part of our culture with such grandeur and sentiment , whether it was the iconic moment of Bahubali the beginning when Prabhas lifted the Shivalinga with shiva tandav strotam powerfully resonating in the background or the opening moment of Bahubali the conclusion where he made an unleashed elephant bow in front of Lord Ganesha's idol . Congratulations for making people feel gratified by bowing to their culture  and deity for once and not by making fun of them . Congratulations for creating characters - all of them - stronger than one's conviction and larger than life . It was not all practical , it was not all logical and it was not all correct . But it was all visually gratifying . It was like a master story teller lost in his own creative world creating a extraordinary narrative out of actually an ordinary one . Yes it was an ordinary story . Half expected . But the key lies in the way the story is told hitting the right sentiments , hitting the right mind . It reminded me of my grandfather and the way he used to teach us Ramayan and Mahabharat , the way he used to explain  the Kaurav Pandhav yudha. The way how Abhimanyu took out the wheel of a large horse chariot to make it his weapon . Incredulous then and this is incredulous now . But I enjoyed it then and I enjoyed your story now just like a child would .Congratulations Rajamouli - for making our men fight like Gods on screen . Congratulations for carrying such high expectations from I would say a large mass of people ( not all for sure  ) and not disappointing .  At the end My compliments  to IMAX and Dolby . I would not have had it any other way .

The movie was all symbolic , the movie was all vision , it was all a man's imagination and it was all dialogues .and it was about the feel  And that is how I would cherish it .

To Love and Peace

It's time now . I am back to the same room ,my room , my balcony overlooking the kids making a racket despite the odd hour ( there are pluses to be living in a closed society u see) overlooking the cars getting parked from my balcony one by one filling up all the empty spaces like completing a large jigsaw puzzle .I own the objects of this room ,everything is placed as per my order or disorder whatever one may like to call it . This is my space . But this time my mind and my heart are just not at peace. I try my tested ways . I concentrate on a single visual object to digress and tame my mind but all in vain . There is something amiss. But it's odd , after the marathon of my life that I had in the last month; I got married last month;  this is not what I had imagined i would be like once it will all be over ( the craziness of the preparations ; just like most families we are also a nuclear family with limited hands)  . So I had been expecting a supreme peace of mind once I would be back to myself but strangely my surroundings are calmer than my mind today.

I relook at the events of last month .I relook at the pace at which the things were moving forward . The feeling was like flowing in a river. The more You resist the more troublesome it is to survive and the moment You let go and surrender to the current the easier it is to flow and above all you enjoy the effortlessness of the situation . So after trying to micro manage things which were in and beyond my control I did let go . And then they came all at once the fun filled moments , happy smiles ,and the worried look on my father's face that somehow he always managed to convert into a big warm smile every time I approached him with a situation at hand . The practical nature of my brother trying to balance the oddities he generally considers useless but were important for me at that time . The sleepless nights my sister had , the meticulous planning my mother and Bhabhi did . A set of friends who kept everything at hold just to be with me . I feel grateful to them and I feel grateful to the new people who have accepted me so kindly. Everything seems sorted in this department of feelings , so what is this restlessness. I am clueless.

I try another tested way I resort to a lifeline ; phone of friend . We talk for hours . Useless , ungiving , unyielding stuff. And we laugh . It makes me feel how everything in me is still the same and how I am still the very person who used to sit here for hours with a book in a hand and an adrak Wali chai next to me . I hang up and to my utmost surprise it does not go away , the restlessness that is. I just do not understand .

And then it happens , Below at some distance I see a couple walking hand in hand and it makes me miss my man. And the moment I think about him all the uneasiness and the inexplicable restlessness goes away in seconds . I don't feel the urge to call him. I don't even need to hear his voice . The fact that he is there is more than enough and it calms me down.

Cheers To Having a Good Man in your life .

The Rooftop

Adhar mai hai latka ye dil kuch akela hai
Jo ooper dekhun to siyaah raat hai or neeche roshni ka mela hai

Machalti har lau ne ek saaz sa cheda hai
Door kahin chalta sheher hai or yahan kuch sukoon ka basera hai

Kuch wo akela sukoon mai laga  or kuch hum shayarana nikle

K hain to dono sath par na hulchul karne ki koi jaldi hai or na abhi savera hai
Door kahin chalta sheher hai or yahan bass  sukoon ka basera hai

The Mighty Woods !!

For how long I waited , for how long I stood,
With my sight touching the sky , Oh the mighty woods !!

Your parched trunk and your drying greens,
I know you long for the rains as I long for my dreams.

But my dear friend ,the rains are still far,
I know that because last night I left my window ajar.

The moisture wasnt riding the wind and there was no scent,
I know you rustled your leaves last night till your stems were bent.

Something in me cried for you and brought me close,
To the lonely path and the only stairs that opens to your door.

The path was long and the journey was endless,
I stood admiring your beauty all entranced and all breathless.

Your graceful tall and your solitary stay,
I saw your patience at every turn as i meandered my way.

But dear friend don’t wait, i told you the rains are still far,
I know that because last night i left my window ajar.

For a moment i forgot the reason why i was there,
Was it to be in your grim or was it for my share,
For my friend in Solitude there is no end to your charm,
Coz a single walk in you totally handed me to my calm.

For how long i waited , for how long i stood
With my sight touching the sky , Oh you the  mighty woods !!

THE MOON(less) NIGHT !!

A scenic edge and a distant light
With the moon at its prime; Oh The lovely night !!
A willful sea that is roaring high
And the solid banks bearing the sea with their might

Standing at the corner watching the entire ordeal
With the moon enchanting the sea to hit the banks with a force so real
The sea sycophantic to follow the moon in its prowl
Hits the very rocks that define the boundary of its control

You stand amused watching this destructive romance
The surrender of the tides to the moon in command
The strength of the rocks and their silent penance
And once again it’s the resilient one that is tested even on a platform so grand

You peep into your heart and assess the tides of your soul
Ready to lose the boundaries, ready to lose control
Resilience and a prudent Reticence; You strengthen your rocks with your might
Smiling and assured you turn your back waiting for that one Night and one sight
For you know and yes you know that even a sea can be tamed on a moonless Night.

The Walk !!

Its pitching dark as I walk the roads, stray as  dogs and lost as souls,
An uncertain wakefulness and a mind that wants to sleep,
But all I know is I am the only creed and all I know is I have got promises to keep.

The trees they rustle and the dogs they growl , but I move on with a single goal,
A solitude that needs to be kindled with a wisdom that is ocean's deep ,
But all I know is I am the only creed and all I know is I have got promises to keep.

The woods they stop me  and make yearn to have  a rest beneath the trunk,
The wind it promises to make me leap and let me have a pleasant  breathe,
A calm that I need; Some rest in the peace,
But all I know is I am the only creed and all I know is I have got promises to keep.

I look at the path that seems never ending ,
The woods?  The wind?; No, there is no defending,
I bid them bye and keep up the trip,
Coz  all I know is I am the only creed and all I know is I have got promises to keep.

The Era of Imaptience

Impatienc

Its not only for the wisdom words of Kaal kare so aj kar , aaj kare so ab and it’s not because NIKE said JUST DO IT , cause when have we ever listened and followed these wisdom words ?and NIKE  ? Haha seriously ?  well you know we are not intelligent enough to buy a product just because its tag line is INTELLECTUALLY better than the others. It is just for the product and experience of the store and of course our budgets,  we don’t attach literary value to shoes for that matter ,SO  it’s not for stuff like this that we are impatient every second of every single day. It’s like patience is oozing out of our bodies getting lost into the undiscovered dimensions of this universe leaving us all a little irritated every single time.                                                    .

So what is it ? Is it THE TECHNOLOGY that has made knowledge and things available on a click? The technology that presents you an opinion about everything before you yourself can sit and form an opinion of your own about it? .And that is why we just don’t. We don’t sit and give something a thought, we don’t try to recall things instead we Google it instantly. We have forgotten what self-introspection is and why would not we, when we can have multiple answers to a question as lame and personal as "how to smile ". This habit of having everything instantly is not only cradling our passive minds but is deeply reflecting in our behavior.                      .
If you disagree, imagine how many times you refresh a page when it doesn’t load. Imagine the frustration you feel when you have to check something important but your phone’s battery dies. Imagine and I have got the best one for the last ,  imagine your disappointment when your 3G becomes 2G . Isn’t it the urgency to have an answer the moment we click something that is reflecting in our outlook bacause the moment when we can’t have something that we want we are stuck up with a sense of desperation and disappointment , more than anything else we associate it with a sense of a little failure.                                       .
Whereas, for the higher sentiments of life say, "achievement”, we do not link it with every page that opened in the exact nanosecond it was supposed to but the lower sentiments of life i.e. "failure" and " frustration" we attach them to every page that did not. This equation is so out of balance that we all end up carrying a big nagging frustration at the back of our heads all the time. So yeah is  it Technology ?,
I will say it is one of the strong aspects.                                         .

I have heard many people say that parting with your gizmos for some time and embracing nature has done wonders for their "inner peace. But my Friends, think again as:-                           :-

You gazed at stars at all their numbers and looked at the sky with all its eternity,
You immersed your soul in the flowing rivers, and with your naked eyes embraced Gods creativity.

When you came out of the forest, your peace, why did it not last?                           ?
When you have seen and felt all that was to be seen and all that was talked in the past?
The key to patience was it in something acquired or was it something as temporary as a break?
You may realize soon that it wasn’t something all great rather something innate.

So next time give “Somethings” a Little more of yourself and make it like a slow climb,
Because there are “Somethings” in life that deserve a little more of your time.

MAHABALESHWAR - THE TRIP

Ever wondered what is the difference between a Tourist and a Traveler ?
As per a Friend of mine who quoted Paul Theourox
“Tourists don't know where they've been, travelers don't know where they're going"
That  is a very direct explanation and I am guessing one of the favorites of all the travelers.

Its actually the difference between the free spiritedness of the traveler and the bound sense of the tourist, the unabated willfulness of a Traveler and a calculated check pointed visit of a Tourist. Let me try to explain more by my experience:-

I never came across this realization until only recently.
Few weeks back I travelled with a bunch of my favorite people i.e. my friends to a place 1000 miles away from everything that knows any shred of my existence
A new place, lively people, a new highway and a new destination ... Everything and mind it everything was having ZNMD feel to it. I am sure my friends must have had the same feel during the trip too considering how a bunch of simpletons we are. Love you all for this.

A distance so big , a ride as if we were chasing the HORIZON and yet with all the playfulness of a mirage it used to vanish only to appear just few more meters away , an endless chase , never ending , till we reached the destination and  forgot all about reaching the end of the road.

As the roads unfold it was like a new story told with thousands of words unspoken but captured only in the beauty of the surroundings. Mahabaleshwar , a hill station amidst the clouds and the rains was like a strikingly beautiful woman draped in the cloud white. It was only when the misty fog used to disburse due to wind that we could see the actual color of her skin. It was all Black and Green. Rocky Mountains with a lot of cultivated and wild vegetation. Scenic, like a postcard straight out of 80s , if you know what I mean.

While the ecstasy of being at a new place was enough to make us all go crazy but despite all that may be I only got crazy in my head than in action.
I don’t know if I explored much I did not know what was all to be covered but yes I know that whatever we saw it was all outstanding and out of this world especially because of the company I had.

Getting back to the topic ,people like me , still the tourists take travelling or lets say being at a new place as an achievement secured with a one time effort of letting go or chilling out but still not letting go of our comfort zones to the fullest . We still try to stick to it . The best example for this would be the nostalgia we face during the ending days of the travel to be at our homes and in our beds or back to the same life and people . The desire to start feeling at ease or normal again. I had that too.

It was not until we headed back that I came to know ; When the ascending beauty of the highway started descending and we started approaching the city back it was only then that I realized that , the serious mountains , the clouds around them making them all the more mysterious , the willful tiny waterfalls originating out of monsoon waters  with the least care about whether they will exist tomorrow or not , the fauna covering the zenith of the mountains like thick boots , all , all of it  was about to go .. And that I hadn’t lived the place enough.

And that next time I will take a halt everywhere where I would want to sink it in , that next time I would walk the local paths to see the local culture. That next time I would talk to the local people to know more about the place from them than from Google. That next time I will not just visit the place to chill but I would travel.

To all us tourist if you will ask what was the best feel we will only say it was the achievement of reaching the destination while to travelers I guess it will be completing a destination and getting on the road again ; Yes it will still be the HIGHWAY.

Let Go !!

How you think that things would have turned out differently? What played? Time ? Circumstances? People? May be, but the truth is you cannot control all these things , you can’t rule time, you can’t make circumstances and you cannot change people. But what you can actually and totally do is your Effort . The Effort to make things go your way

Such an idealistic thought right , I mean who doesn’t know this? It is something straight out of the Book.
I am not against it , I mean I really appreciate it and I do remember watching a movie where a couple was breaking up and finally when the guy lands in front of the girl’s house , he meets her father and tells him that he is ready to do everything to win her back . You know what that Father said, “Son, You don’t have to everything you just have to do whatever it takes”. I was taken aback by the simplicity of the wisdom of the Father. The dialogue was really Bang On , an “A Pointer”.

But and yes my friends there is a but in the situation, what these wise movie fathers or uncles (advisers) do not know is how to keep the conviction of reaching your goal alive? Its not like clearing an IAS, IES exam because the goals there are static but families and relations or people for that matter are not static entities. And because they are not static entities they respond back to your efforts (or whatever you do) or in the worst case do not respond at all.  If they respond back favourably like in the case of the movie (well yea he did win the girl back) you are a winner , if they respond negatively that also paves your path to your further actions,  like the father said do whatever it takes it helps you plan what you should do and what you shouldnt, but if they do not respond at all my friends that is where you have the biggest problem.

Now,  How do you know that whatever you have been doing is right or wrong and that you need to change it? You don’t. But you still chose to believe in yourself , initially it’s a good belief , it’s a source of your encouragement , its your faith that you know that whatever you have been doing is right. But how long do you think is it going to last , this belief , this blind faith. How long do you think you can continue to assume the other people’s reaction , wish , concurrence or non concurrence and then base your further encouragement on your assumptions. Not long. It hits you  and then you realize that while everything else has been in a static mode (non motion, non reaction) you like a child kept on clinging to the situation all by yourself without any real encouragement or support. To me my friends this is where your sincere effort should end. Stop the parade. Because even if you end up having it somehow this realization that you were in it all by yourself is going to take a hit again and you will lose the charm of the entire thing , you may have it , you will keep it but you may not appreciate it as much as it did not appreciate you in your struggle.

Its good you know,  being self aware , being cent percent sure of your choices , being able to put your efforts for them but believe me not everything is worth going crazy. So stop giving yourself a hard time and move on because as I always say;

A new idea a new feel in an unknown place and an unknown street,
All strangers around but what can they really see? You are as happy as you choose to be.

SOMETHING BORROWED

Days in and days out,
A swarm of mob that can make you pout.
A desire to close your eyes to be in your oasis ,
But as you open them back ,the life is back to crisis .
You take a deep breath but even that fails your peace,
You rest your head back and shrink your crease.

Friends, almost everyone of us  has been in a state of mind where we feel alone in the middle of a big crowd  and all we want to do is to get away just to feel a little comfort. The extreme of this feeling is something really hard to explain but if you have ever seen a few months old baby going through physical pain but feeble enuff to cry his lungs out , and if you offer him a little warmth of your palm, you will notice that the poor kid will involuntarily try to shrink in your palm just to feel the comfort of being there.
We all have been in a stage where whenever we feel down we  look upto the person who can make it go away be it be a friend or a family but that is as i said what we chose on our own , that is what is voluntary .
Being completely in a stage of self awareness , a stage where we exactly know what we want to keep us happy we actually are losing the kid in us who can still feel the undemanded comfort from unexpected or even at times from unwelcomed people  only because we can not see it anymore. Being self righteous all the tym we myt end up getting what we want but it myt not be what we need at that time.
So, next time when you find yourself in a place full of unwanted people when all you want to be is to get away from any person known let alone unknown ,

Open your ears and open your eyes,
Hear them chat louder and don't consider it noise.
Look at them smile and laugh and look at them fight,
There wil b so much to observe that you will laugh and u will be in for a surprise.
When a bright smile of a stranger takes you away from yourself,
The giggles and jokes of a group of people make you feel like you are still twelve.
The self  in you is forgotten and still an incredulous smile is followed,
Then you know that is not you, that is something on you that is borrowed.

Such happiness is small and at times stupid and meaningless . It might just be a weak moment of a very strong self dependent person . Its ok to be weak or to let your uncontrolled involuntary side take over you at times because after all it's as they say a little rain to make the pain go away is enough.

For years and years of being an individual i have learnt  that no wonder those are the best times when  happiness knocks at your doorstep but for others ,Friends , you have to reach out for it.

Dedicated to all my friends and all those people who believe:-

The richest of all is the one who tries,
Because Happiness is nothing but just a CHOICE.

Talk about life talk about its crust and as you watch  all the importants rust,
the life goes on with a single emotion and you walk down straight forgetting all your firsts..
A road to living but not to life,
you chose it because it has minimum strife..
It's a single road , the road to living,
The road to motion the one that keeps you going..
You choose it you move it you walk in its light,
And that how it's done,  thats Your goal set right..
You forget about the right you forget about the wrong,
the only thing you remember is that you want to move on..
Marking a halt taking a detour,
that is not really a luxury of poor..
It takes some courage it takes some time,
but more than that it takes the ability to rebel from one’s mind..
So you look at the world and keep up the steps,
Because they are again the better judge..
For all the practical reasons you live in your own plight,
And yeahh that’s how you live without a speck of life .

Oh Rain !! The Rain !!

As the drip drop starts and the tires splash,
People run for hideouts as they clash,
I take a halt and let it flow,
Oh RAIN the RAIN, come and let me soak.

As the wind that sharpens like an edgy knife,
People crimp their shoulders and gather children and wife,
I let the body loose and take a breath so deep,
and in an instant I know its an embrace to keep.

The body shudders and shivers in joy,
and all I know , it’s the Nature’s way to say “HI” ,
A greeting acknowledged by every single bone,
Oh RAIN the RAIN come and let me loan.

Come and let me loan a moment of life,
A moment filled with freshness and youth so bright.
A moment of joy, a moment of fun,
A moment filled with laughter and  the one filled with pun.

A moment that reminds of a dense forest from an uphill sliding curtains,
A distant cry of joy in some serene misty mountains.

A moment where one lives the juvenility of life with splashing  water and  paper boats,
Jumping in water unless one completely soaks.

Moments so minor, moments so lost,
Moments forgotten at all the cost,
Oh RAIN the RAIN come and let me please,
And let me feel as you wash all my tussles with ease.

And as you drop on the leveled ground, with a rhythmic yet so prominent pounce,
Let that be a melody so pronounced that it deafens me from all my inner sounds.
So RAIN oh RAIN come and let me see,
Absolute nothingness in my moment of peace.

An Observation to the Insight

If you have ever traveled in a local train you would have realized and believe me all the non travelers that you would realize it even if you try with all your might not to face it , that it always makes a rumbling noise which is not only irritating but in many times deafening as hell . . Nevertheless you will find numerous people with their music on ear phones plugged in so tightly into their ears that it always made me wonder what exactly is it that they are hearing in this rumble. Being an ardent music appreciator i somehow never could accept it rather every time I watched them I WAS AMUSED. .

Music as the soul for your emotions is not over rated. . Give someone some time to kill and a headset. . He is bound to resort to it and i am no exception. . I wouldn’t deny initially like others even i was trying to listen to what should have been there i.e. how the song was meant to b heard how the music director had carved it. . With volume super high I tried to clutch on to every beat n every word in order to grab d exact essence of the song. . Until today. .

Friends if you have ever attempted to sleep in a running lecture amidst all your friends chatting, having their lunches and the desperate attempts of the teacher to speak just for the heck of speaking in order to avoid any embarrassing round of questions you would have known that as soon as you advance towards your slumber the voices adjacent to you i.e. your friends’ voice phase out more quickly than that of the teacher. . n there comes a moment when in your subconscious self you only hear the most distant voice murmur whereas every other voice near u die out n within few minutes u r shamelessly n completely sleeping in the class . . Well that is not the point here. . My point is today when I plugged in my ear phones and sat down in the train half dizzy coz of Monday blues and half coz. . Well it was chilly outside n I was comfortably warm. .in that sub conscious I picked up one of the very nice observations. The rumble of the train semi rhythmic, unplanned, fierce and unthoughtful blended so effortlessly with the so called well thought and planned music that the songs almost got a new rhythm. .it stopped feeling like a hindrance rather it became a part of the entire music. .it was like a mix of what should be there and what actually is there.

The most important thing to notice here is that your state of mind at this stage represents something very rare and something really inevitable and it is ‘ACCEPTANCE’. If you will be any more awake you will again thrive for perfection, the perfect rhythm the perfect beats and you will be disappointed by every unwelcomed noise. .if you will be any more unconscious it will only be the gurgle of rumble that you will hear until you are sleepy dead. So what is it? It sure is a balance, it sure is soothing. . But it isn’t what you wanted, the real music. .

Life as beautifully thought and carved by you is like a song with perfect rhythm perfect voice no intrusion no hurdle but unfortunately that is only subjective .The rumble metaphorically represents every hurdle you face n they are unavoidable. The balance represents the efforts you put in to achieve an equilibrium between what you want and what you have and that balance is your Trade Off i.e. where you want to settle. The more effort you put the more close you are to what you want , the more you slack the more lost you are .But not in any case can you be happy or real if you decline the existence of either of the two states.

So friends never under estimate the power of acceptance …you can only move on when you can acknowledge and bear the adversaries. . You can only bear them when you are not in denial of their existence.

Never under estimate your capability to find your equilibrium coz it will automatically set to the stage where you give up and u will always b an under achiever with frustration and anger and believe me they are only surface emotions.

Struggle for balance is only what is real in life n what you trigger every second in very decision you make... And that is the only thing that has the capability of oozing the deepest sentiment that can ever relate to your conscience i.e. satisfaction.

Friends,

A battle lost, a battle won

A living dead, a death undone

A deafening roar or a silent turn

A fully aware self or ignorance

They all halt at your level of acceptance.
